What does it mean when the doctor is board-certified?
For each medical specialty, there is a national board that is responsible for setting the standards that physicians must meet in order to become certified. Board-Certified physicians have completed many years of training beyond medical school, have practiced for a designated number of years in their particular specialty, and have passed examinations within those specialty areas.
What does F.A.C.O.G. stand for?
F.A.C.O.G. (Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology) after a physician's name indicates that physician has achieved Board Certification status and that is a member in the national society dedicated to advancing women's healthcare. National guidelines concerning women's health in the United States are set by the College.
What is a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner is a Registered Nurse (RN) with additional specialized education. This individual provides some care previously offered only by physicians. Education for Nurse Practitioners includes advanced nursing and selected medical studies, as well as, intensive clinical experience specific to the Nurse Practitioner's specialty.
When would I see a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner is qualified to provide you with several health services - including the treatment of minor illnesses- and will refer you to a physician if a condition becomes serious. Nurse Practitioners can provide care for: physical exams (including Pap Smears), health and wellness counseling, contraceptive care, STD screening and follow-up, evaluation and treatment of common infections and other care that may be needed.
What is the difference between a Nurse Practitioner and a Physician's care?
Basically, Nurse Practitioners care for the healthy women with typical healthcare needs. Their focus is on well-being and preventing health problems. Physicians are trained to treat the complex health issues which may require a more complicated treatment or surgery.
How can I get a prescription refilled?
If you call into our office, you may ask for a refill on your prescription; however, your physician will review your chart prior to releasing a prescription refill. If he/she needs to see you before a prescription is released, a member of our office will contact you to schedule an appointment. Otherwise, you will be notified where and when your prescription was called in. Please make sure that your information is current for accuracy purposes.
How can I obtain a copy of my medical records?
You may request a copy of your medical records by completing and signing the "MEDICAL RECORDS REQUEST ORDER" form. A nominal administrative fee of $15 will be incurred.
What are your policies regarding office visits and appointments?
If you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, we ask that you please call to reschedule. If you simply do not show up for your appointment, a fee of $40 will be incurred. Payments to our practice are due at time of service.
How can I pay for my visit?
Our office accepts Cash, Check, Visa or Mastercard (Credit or Debit) payments.
What insurance carriers do you accept?
Dedicated to Women OB-GYN Associates accepts: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Coventry, Medicare, Medicaid (State of DE only), Tricare, Mamsi/Optimum Choice, and Alliance. If you do not see your insurance carrier listed, please call our office at (302) 674-0223 as we update our list of insurance providers periodically.
What are your office hours?
Our normal operating hours are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. However, as indicated below, we do have early morning and evening appointments available.
Are, early morning or evening hours available?
Yes, we offer appointments as early as 7:30 am and as late as 7:20 pm. When you call to schedule your appointment, please indicate to one of our schedulers your desire for an early morning or an evening appointment. We are more than happy to accommodate you.
How many physicians are there in the practice?
Our practice has 9 physicians and 2 nurse practitioners. Within our group, we have 5 male physicians and 4 female physicians. Two of our doctors practice in the GYN field only and the remaining 7 practice in both the OB and GYN specialties.
Are there physicians available after hours?
At Dedicated to Women OB-GYN Associates, one of our physicians is on call at all times for those emergencies that may present after our regular business hours. In case of those emergencies, please call (302) 734-1111.
